Molded Rubber Gaskets Manufacturing Processes

As a manufacturer of molded rubber gaskets, we utilize injection molding and compression molding for customization.

Injection molding is suited for high-volume productions and is completed by injecting melted material into a mold. It features quick production timelines and creates smaller gaskets and complex shapes. Injection molding requires high up-front costs but is a highly efficient manufacturing process.

Compression molding is best when applied to small or medium productions. Heated material is compressed into a mold. Compression molding is the more cost-effective method of molding and works well to manufacture a wide range of rubber gasket sizes.

Custom Rubber Gasket Materials

When designing a custom-molded gasket, a critical decision is selecting the suitable rubber material for your application. By partnering with Ace Seal, you’re choosing an expert team of engineers and manufacturers who will ensure a finished rubber gasket that meets your exact specifications and will stand up to the demands of your industrial requirements.

Silicone Rubber Gaskets

A high-performing elastomer, silicone is highly durable and resistant to aging, oxygen, ozone, UV light, and water. Silicone gaskets function at high levels in both low- and high-temperature environments. Ace Seal handles 50 and 70 durometers and silicone foam or sponge.

Neoprene Gaskets

Also referred to as polychloroprene gaskets, neoprene gaskets are well-suited to harsh environments due to their resistance to acids, greases, ozone, sun, weathering, and other damaging conditions. It is a flexible option for rubber gaskets and operates in a wide range of temperatures. Ace Seal works with neoprene 40, 60, and 70 durometers.

Nitrile (Buna-N) Gaskets

Nitrile, or Buna-N, is the most-used material for custom gasket manufacturing. Buna-N gaskets are highly resistant to acids, alkalis, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, and other substances. Nitrile gaskets are ideal when gas or water permeability and abrasion are top considerations. Ace Seal can work with a variety of nitrile materials.

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) Gaskets

EPDM gaskets resist acids, alkalis, heat, oxidants, sunlight, water, and more. When applied outdoors, EPDM remains color-stable, durable, and can withstand high and low temperatures. Ace Seal works with a variety of rubber and synthetic materials in addition to EPDM, including Hypalon and butyl.

Molded Rubber Gasket Materials

In addition to rubber, we can create custom-molded gaskets from a variety of additional materials, including:

  • Plastics
  • Carbon fiber
  • Cork
  • Fluorosilicone

Rubber Gaskets for Industrial Applications

Rubber gaskets are widely used throughout many industrial applications due to their versatility. These industries include:

  • Aerospace
  • Transportation
  • Commercial applications
  • Gas & oil
  • Military

Rubber Gasket Maintenance

Rubber gaskets are susceptible to fatigue and failure with extended use. Common factors that may cause failure in industrial applications include but are not limited to:

  • Operating environment
  • Age of the gasket
  • Application temperature
  • Mechanical failure

Ace Seal manufactures rubber gaskets to last and will work with you to determine the best material, size, and shape for your custom molded gasket. However, it is still essential to conduct regular maintenance tests to ensure your gaskets operate as designed.
