Custom Rubber Gaskets
Custom rubber gaskets can be made from a range of materials, including silicone, EDPM, and many others. They are an excellent choice for applications requiring temperature resistance, durability, and flexibility. Rubber and molded gaskets are often used for pipe, heat exchangers, and mechanical applications.
Ace Seal creates custom rubber gaskets for use in most industries. Our state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment allows us to meet your exact specifications with quick turnaround times. Our expert team is ready to create any custom gasket to meet the needs of your application.
Molded Gasket Manufacturing Processes
We utilize either injection molding or compression molding to manufacture custom rubber gaskets.
Injection molding is suited for high-volume productions and is completed by injecting melted material into a mold. It features quick production timelines and creates smaller gaskets and complex shapes. Injection molding requires high up-front costs but is an extremely efficient manufacturing process.
Compression molding is best when applied to small or medium productions. Heated rubber is compressed into a mold. Compared to injection molding, compression molding is more cost effective. It works well to manufacture a wide range of rubber gasket sizes.
Rubber Materials for Molded Gaskets
When designing a custom-molded gasket, a critical decision is selecting the right rubber material for your application. By partnering with Ace Seal, you’re choosing an expert team of engineers and manufacturers who will ensure a finished rubber gasket that meets your exact specifications and will stand up to the demands of your industrial requirements.
Silicone Rubber Gaskets
A high-performance elastomer, silicone is highly durable and resistant to aging, oxygen, ozone, UV light, water, and other factors. Silicone gaskets function at a high level in both low and high-temperature environments. We work with silicone 50 and 70 durometers and silicone foam/sponge.
Neoprene Gaskets
Also referred to as polychloroprene, neoprene gaskets are well-suited to harsh environments due to the material’s resistance to acids, grease, ozone, sun, weathering, and other tough conditions. It is a flexible rubber gasket option and operates in a wide range of temperatures. Ace Seal works with neoprene 40, 60, and 70 durometers.
Nitrile (Buna-N) Gaskets
Nitrile, also called Buna-N, is the most used material to manufacture custom gaskets. Buna gaskets are highly resistant to acids, alkalis, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, and other substances. Buna gaskets are an ideal selection when gas or water permeability and wear-and-tear from abrasion are top considerations. We work with a variety of buna materials.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) Gaskets
EPDM gaskets are resistant to acids, alkalis, heat, oxidants, sunlight, water, and much more. When applied outdoors, EPDM remains color stable and durable, and it can withstand both high and low temperatures. We work with a variety of rubber and synthetic materials in addition to EPDM, such as butyl and Hypalon.
Custom Materials for Molded Gaskets
In addition to rubber, we can create custom molded gaskets from a variety of other materials, such as:
- Plastics
- Carbon Fiber
- Cork
- And more.
Rubber Gaskets for Any Industry
Rubber gaskets are used widely throughout many industrial applications due to the versatility of the material. These industries include:
- Aerospace
- Transportation
- Commercial Applications
- And much, much more!
Common Reasons Rubber Gaskets Fail
Rubber gaskets are susceptible to fatigue and failure as time passes. Common factors that cause rubber gaskets to fail in industrial applications include, but are not limited to:
- Operating environment
- Age of the gasket
- Application temperature
- Mechanical failure.
Ace Seal manufactures rubber gaskets to last and will work with you to determine the best material, size, and shape for your custom molded gasket. However, it is still important to conduct regular maintenance tests to ensure your gaskets operate as designed.
